April Edition: Groceries
Zach and I are trying to reel in our amazing ability to spend lots of money. We have this handy dandy app that gives us reports basically of what percentage of our money we spend where. Looking over that was....frightening!
We were like deer in the head lights “how did we spend that much on eating out” We had a come to Jesus financial meeting and broke out our Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University books/budget sheets/envelope system from Anthem. We had to dig it out of the bottom of our
storage :/
To help our grocery bill I have started to viciously meal plan! We go grocery shopping every paycheck, about every two weeks. I have committed to picking out 7-10 recipes each pay period and then making a strict list for the grocery store that we will stick to.
We don't have kids, it's just us. We never make grocery lists. And when we do, we forget them at
home or in the car. Or we just don't stick to them. That leads to us usually going to the store at least 5 more times after our initial trip, turning our grocery budget into a monster. I’m pretty sure a family of 5 could survive on our grocery budget.
But times are a changing around the Charnock house! Crackin' the Whip on groceries!
I am not excited about this yet..mostly because it takes extra time and extra effort. But, I’m sure I will be when it pays off and save us moola!
