Flesh, you don't rule me

Total honesty: my first inclination during the kid's nap time/quiet time today was to go plop on the couch with my lunch and watch last night's Dancing with the Stars episode.  It's my only real "break" during the day and that sounded like some good me time. I was feeling pooped and just wanted to veg out.

That rest sounded really enticing, but my Spirit started to add to the conversation in my head.

Don't let your physical tiredness be the boss. Don't let it stop you from pursuing Jesus. Don't let that keep you from being with the Lord. The real refreshing and rest you're looking for is found in Him.

Just to be clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with catching a TV show while the kids nap. But first things first....I need Jesus. My Spirit was leaping out of me, so hungry for the Lord's presence.

So I made my salad, said to my flesh you don't rule me, turned my phone off, opened my bible, and focused my heart on Jesus. Because I need his love, peace, joy, purpose, hope, truth, and promises to FILL ME. That renewing, refreshing, and relief of burdens I'm carrying so I can be empowered to be who he's call me to be only comes through time with Him. And He reminds me of who I am in him and drowns out who my tired flesh wants to be.

Hebrews 11:6
"...he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks received, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
