The places that I find myself having the most meaningful time with the Lord these days are kind of funny. The bathtub and the car have been my prayer closets as of lately. My most concentrated alone time ends up being here, so it makes sense I guess. Hashtag momlife right?
By no surprise I found myself having a really good conversation with God in the car this past week about 2016 and my word for the year. Oh so clearly I heard him speak to me over the Third Day music:
Clarity.Trust.Obedience
This is my mission statement for this year.
Clarity for what is next...in big decisions and little decisions.
Trust even if it is scary. Trust because he is a good God that will never fail me.
Obedience to what he says no matter what.
The clarity thing is the biggest part for me because there has been a lot of confusion going on in my life regarding my "work." And I KNOW confusion, no matter what it is regarding, is from the enemy, not the Lord. So, I am heading into this year believing for breakthrough because feeling like I'm called to be a stay-at-home mom but yet needing to have a little bit of an income for a little longer is weird....but I know a satisfying "job" is possible.

In addition, the word Zach and I got for our family this year is
He is going to increase so we need to go deeper.
With this word was a picture of a huge oak tree. Half of the picture is what you see of the tree above ground and the other half what you see of the tree's root system below the ground. As the tree grows taller and wider and bigger above ground, it's roots grow deeper and deeper below the ground to sustain the life going on up above.
And so it will be with our family this year.
God's got big things for us this year...lots of LIFE. And in order for us to take on, handle, bear all he has in store we must keep going deeper into HIM as our foundation.
One of the practical ways we will make room for his increase is preparation....in order to receive well all he has for us. Being prepared in our hearts and bodies. Preparing our kids in new ways as they grow older. Our instructions for this preparation come from Titus:
You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good.In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2:1-6
A new year is always exciting. But we all know that by the time July, August, September roll around sometimes our words for the year or our resolutions for the year are a distant memory that we haven't carried out very well. For our family and for yours, I pray that we will be diligent and intentional to keep what God has said to us in the front of our minds, eyes, and hearts so we can embrace all the has for us...I don't know about you but I don't want to miss it.
Happy New Year!
