He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us way back in Acts chapter 2, starting with the disciples. And from there everything changed. The Holy Spirit was poured out and they were filled up...to prophesy, to see visions, to dream dreams, to see signs and wonders.
A supernatural power was now with them and IN them 24/7...to enable them to do things they couldn't on their own. To see the sick healed to see the dead raised to see the sinner saved.
As I read over these things this morning in Acts, I had to ask myself: Is my life Spirit-filled and Spirit-led on a day-to-day basis? Am I filled with His power like they were? In the spiritual AND the normal mundane stuff?
When I'm changing poopy diapers, washing dishes, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, doing laundry...am I in-tune with the Holy Spirit enough to allow him to speak to me even in these REAL life, not so spiritual moments? Or do I just reserve that for my quiet times with the Lord or church on Sunday? Because I don't think the Holy Spirit only speaks when I'm feeling put together and have a perfect quiet house to sit down and read my bible. I think the Holy Spirit speaks LOUDLY even in the day-to-day tasks.
He's always trying to draw us closer to him. To give us power and strength to love deeper, live freer, forgive more graciously, see things more clearly.
And that will be my goal this week. No matter if the days starts with a quiet time or a chaotic time...to position myself to be filled with Him. To open up my heart and allow him to pour out everything good he has for me. To let those things change my day. And see God move no matter where I am or what I'm doing.
