I thought I'd share with you guys what I've added to my pantry and tummy for this body of mine and baby of ours to be healthier!
My cereals of choice used to be Honey Nut Cheerios and Honey Bunches of Oats. Both really good right!? Ummm with like 2 grams of protein. Kashi Go Lean Crunch however is both tasty and filled with 9 grams of protein per cup.
Smoothies with Greek Yogurt instead of regular yogurt. 15 grams of protein per 8 oz. Thats a win.
Greek Yogurt instead of regular yogurt for a morning snack. 13 grams of protein per yogurt. Greek yogurt has 2x the protein of regular, fyi. Good to know. And it tastes good!
These are one of my favorite additions. Seriously tastes like chocolate milk and its not loaded with sugar. As you can see, 30 grams of protein in 11 oz. Thank you Costco
Infamous string cheese. 6 grams of protein per string cheese.
Instant oatmeal. I don't want to wake up any earlier than I already do to make oatmeal on the stove, so these are convenient to just grab and go and still get some good stuff in ya. 4 grams per package.
Trail mix. I try REALLY hard to not just eat the MnMs out of this, but sometimes that is what happens. :) This is the only thing out of this bunch of food that I actually don't really like, but i eat it cause it's packed with better stuff than cheetos or cheezits or goldfish.
HUMMUS! LOVE Hummus! Again, convenient grab n go single servings for the lunch at work, 4 grams per hummus, these are 1/4 cup. I could probably eat 3 in one sitting. And sometimes I do :)
So whether your pregnant or not, there you have it. Lots o protein for your diet. PS. you probably noticed that there is no meat on this list. My body has suddenly been rejecting pretty much all meat, making it hard to do the 1 thing my midwife strong suggested! But we've been able to get creative with all of this stuff. I can't wait to love a big juicy burger or chicken breast again though. Come on 2nd trimester!
