If you missed 1.0 and 2.0 you can look back to catch up!
The longer this competition goes on, the more I think a more fitting titled for this series would've been something like Goodbye Insanity, Hello Health! Becuase there is something about working out on a regular basis that seems to dull down life's insanities.
disclaimer: I'm not writing this to brag, I'm writing this to share and encourage and relate :)
I've been walking 2-4 miles a day. Depending on the time I have. About a week into this, I decided to try jogging, expecting to stop at a 1/2 a mile because my like/desire for running has extremley waned in the last year.
Before I knew it, I had ran for 20 minutes! It was like the clouds opened, light shined through from heaven and the angels sang....I was actually enjoying running again!
I got out of my running routine when we got married (can I get a married woman amen?) and in turn stopped enjoying running because its hard when you dont do it consistently. I was mad because I really wanted to like it. But, it wasn't happening.
But noooowwwww I am way excited that this competition made me push through and start running again cause there is seriously nothing like some endorphines from a good run.
And I could care less about the numbers. What the scale says realy doesn't matter to me. I don't even own a scale.
It's about being healthy. When my body is healthy, my mind is healthy. When I am disciplined in the physical, I find myself more disciplined in the spiritual. When I make time to take care of me, I can take care of everything else better than before.
Running...it's like free counseling, free therapy. My mind and heart get healthy and my body does, too. I have blisters on my toes, sore legs, sore butt....and it's great.

Goodbye Squish 2.0
Fitness Competition Update!
If you didn't read this...you can catch up here!
I can proudly say, I have done some type of cardio for at least 30 minutes a day.... for eight days! yay! Okay to some people this may not be a big deal...but we have busy lives and commute to work, so time is of the essence and it's an intentional thing to fit the gym/work out into my schedule every.single.day!
But it's easy. so easy that I'm embarrassed that I used to "not make it" to the gym even 3 times a week.
AND
Its only been 8 days, with 22 left to go, and I can see/feel the squish going away.
Cheers to being 23! haha
Things for the win:
-Walk on lunch break with coworkers! When I'm not wearing the sweater on Thanksgiving because it's raining and 55* outside in June...
No, I'm not bitter....
-Pray for my city as I walk through it's streets
-Get Zach to walk with me [I tricked him, he thought we were going for a "leisurely" walk ;)]
-Take advantage of the beautiful trail right by our house!
Doesn't that trail make you want to go camping? Anyone have any good camping spots to recommend in WA?

Goodbye Squish!
In 36 days and about 12 hours I will be boarding a plane to Miami, FL!!
SO excited!
Although, huge problem: there is no motivation to get into shape up here in Olympia where summer clothes aren't needed until like August!
So last night I was at the gym, sweating and working it out, trying to come up with a plan to replace some of my squish with muscle.
After going through a list of things I kind of gave up:
1. I could make it my goal to get to the gym 3-4 times a week. This is my goal right now, but I um...I never meet it.
2. I could give up deserts. But, that is like not breathing for me and that'd require me to give away/hide all of the cookies, ice cream, and peanut mnm's that we just stocked up on. what a waste ;)
Then, I came into work today and was saved! Some ladies at my work rolled out the "Gotta Have Heart" Health Competition 2012. Its a 30 day challenge in our department to benefit the American Heart Association. From June 1-30 you agree to 30 minutes of physical activity each day.
Um hello perfect timing, sign me up!
A cash prize and some friendly competition is way motivating.
I'm getting my moneys worth of my gym membership this month! I'll keep you posted on how this goes!
